Hyson Green Update
from Martyn and Susan Jackson
Many of you will be aware that over the summer we ran a conversation course for students studying English.
The 5-week Keep Talking course was run by a team from Arnoldarmy and attracted approximately 18 students from various countries each week. The fifth week took the form of an international banquet with dishes from the far corners of the world. On this evening we announced further dates for Keep Talking and gave opportunity for people to sign up to volunteer at Oasis and/or to explore Christianity through the Alpha Course. are now entering our ninth week of the Alpha course where six people (plus the team) are attending. We feel extremely humbled, privileged and blessed by what God is doing in our midst and want to thank you for your continued prayers and support. We would value your prayers for all those involved in the Alpha course, the next steps following Alpha and the next Keep Talking course (see flyer for details). If you are interested in getting involved in the next 5-week Keep Talking please contact Susan or Martyn Jackson.

On Monday 20th July Arnoldarmy launched a new project; Keep Talking in the Hyson Green area of Nottingham...
This 5-week project is aimed to give people who are learning English a chance to meet with other Englishspeakers, both for language practise and to offer a context to mee t and socialise with other people.
Susan Jackson writes: "Over my year of teaching English (ESOL and EFL) at Castle College it has become very clear to me that while many people in Nottingham (though far from all) have access to good language lessons, most students lack the opportunity to practise the English they have learnt.
There are a number of students who are quite isolated within their own communities where of course they speak their native language. Many want to meet new people but don’t have a context for this kind of interaction. It is my hope and prayer that Keep Talking will go some way to meeting this need within our community".
We value you prayers for this new venture and for the Keep Talking team.
Here are a selection of pictures from the first week:

In June 2008, two of our church members moved house into the Hyson Green area in the centre of Nottingham with view to planting a new small group cell community there.
They have taken up employment in the area and will see how things develop.
If you are a Christian, please add them to your prayer list and if possible pray for them on the 26th of each month |
